The Different Types Of Fractions
Fractions (mixed, improper and equivalent)
Mixed fractions are fractions like 1½. Mixed fractions count the whole numbers. This is the fraction you get when converting improper fractions.
Which leads me to improper fractions. This is when the numerator is bigger than the denominator like this 13/5. You usually change these to mixed fractions.
Equivalent fractions are also fractions too. This is when two fractions equal to the same value as each other. This looks like ½ and 2/4.

My Ski Field Experience
WALT write to express ideas context: Ski Trip
We were allowed to choose the way we responded to the ski trip.
My Ski Experience
On the 15th of August 2016 I woke up at 5:45 to get ready for skiing. I ate 3 slices of delicious toast, on that toast was plum jam (My favourite). I was getting ready for the best ski day ever. I would be on my way at 6:30 so I could check in at the school, hop in my car group and go to the one and only Porters Ski Field.
At the school I was greeted by some of my friends. Then we all sat down Ms Kemp my teacher talked to the class about reminders about the day and gave us some orange arm bands to put on, she also told us the car groups of course I already knew my car group. I was with my friend Kade and his dad Mr Buglar. His dad and my dad know each others so I wasn't worried. After that we got in the car and we were on the road.
We were in the car Kade, Mr Buglar and I we were having a little chat. I basically stared out the window the whole time but they would ask me questions from time to time. I wasn't much of a talker, the reason why was because I had nothing to talk about, at least nothing that I thought they would find interesting. We were finally at Arthur's Pass, Mr Bulgar stopped at the store and got us some food. Kade and I got saverys and Mr Buglar got a pie, for drinks I got a hot chocolate and Kade got a bottle of fizz. After that we got back on the road.
Finally we were at Porters Ski field. We got out of the car I put on my waterproof pants and headed to the hire and repair place I had to wait a long time though. After a while it was my turn to get my gear I went in got my boots I put one on and went to get my ski’s. The ski guy put the spare boot in the ski’s to see if they fit then adjusted them to my weight and height. After that I hit the slopes well the beginner slope because everyone has to start there.
I skied around for a bit then got told that I can go on the intermediate slope so I did. Then everything turned sour I went down the slope at full speed and I crashed into one of my classmates but not just any classmate I skied straight into Allie I prepared to get shouted at but instead she said “Are you alright” I said “Yeah are you alright” “Yeah” Allie said, suddenly one of the teachers told me to go back on the beginner slope and practice my turns so I did.
By the time I finished practising it was lunch time. I sat down and ate my lettuce, cheese, ham and mayo sandwich, I thought it was alright, I also ate a mandarin. Kade and I were sitting on the flap that comes down on the ute\truck there was a good amount of room. By the time I ate my mandarin it was time to go to the intermediate slope for my ski lesson.
At the lesson we went up the intermediate slope and had to follow the instructor which was hard. I fell over half way down luckily another instructor saw me and brought we down to the beginner slope to teach me an easier way to turn. She told me to point my toes in the way you wanted to turn I tried my best to but it was really hard. It took myself a bit to adjust to the new way but I got it in no time at all. After that we got back up on the intermediate slope to try again. After a couple of goes I was in like flynn going down that slope it felt really special to finally advance at skiing.
When the instructor left I had one more go to be sure that it is all in my head. Then I went down the slope I knew immediately that what the instructor taught me was still their, I felt alive inside. So I kept going down the slope it was awesome. Going down the slope I felt free like a bird but on the ground. The snow felt slippery under my skis as I was sliding down the slopes.
By 4:00pm I was really tired I think everyone else was too. The teachers said “Go return your gear and go to your car that you are in” so that is what I did. I went to return my gear and then went to the car that I was in. After that a teacher came round and told me to give her back my arm band (The orange one I put on my arm at the start of the day) so I did and got back in the car with Kade, Mr Buglar and I. Then we started to drive back home.
On the way home wasn't much different than the ride up, the only thing that was different was that we talked about our day for the first 15 minutes, then it went back to normal. When I got home mum and dad wanted to know about my day. I said “Mum it was a lovely day and that I had a lot of fun.” then I went on about the ski trip. After that I had a beautiful toasty (that's what we call toasted sandwiches) with cheese, ham and pineapple. Then I went to bed and thought what a wonderful ski day.
