A chase in Africa

I was wandering in the plains of Africa. I stumbled upon a local tribe they welcomed me in and

offered me lots of food and made my life as comfortable as can be. It took me a couple of hours

to realize that they were going to EAT ME! I decided to escape quietly but someone recognized

me and alarmed the others. So I ran for it. Straight out of the camp and into the vast desert.

I traveled for miles and I knew that they wouldn’t give up a free feed so I kept ongoing.

I grew fatigued and started to walk the heat on my skin was starting to boil. I was dehydrated,

this was a serious issue for me because I could die, I need to find water and fast. I was walking

around searching for water or shade. Telling myself not to give up and to keep going on.

I saw a waterhole in the distance and that was when I heard the carnivores charging at me we

were both sprinting for the waterhole we all needed it. I had to get their first so I could get a

drink before they could kill me. I got their first and filled up my jacket in water and ran, lets

just say running and drinking at the same time is challenging. I found a bush to hide in while

the carnivores ran past; it was nice to have a brake while I drink my water. But I still need to

find civilization.

I took a minute to look around and try to find a town I sighted a little square in the distance.

I decided to take my time and wait a little longer just to make sure all the carnivores past.

Then I started to walk. Up and down the dunes, past trees, past the waterholes I’d stop at as

much as I could to drink. Then I noticed something, I felt the dirt under my feet; It was rough,

but it gradually turned to sand I was halfway there. I kept going on. After all the running, all the

walking, all the tribal men chasing me, I’m finally free.

Once I got to the town, I talked to the residents. They were remarkably nice and friendly, and

they were eating fruit (I was glad they didn’t eat meat). A nice man pointed me in the direction

of their leader. He was huge and tall, this made me want to bow. He was very wise, he said

“you’re not from here are you?” I told him that I needed to go back to my city Lagos. He then

pointed me to a jeep and told his people to drop him off on the way.I didn’t know why they would

be going to Lagos too. I talked to one of the people on the jeep with me, he offered me food

and water. I asked him what are they doing going to lagos but he could not understand, my

throat was sore and raspy. We got there and they made me hop of I saw them picking up

supplies and loading it onto the jeep, I helped to thank them. This was it back in my own city, I am home.

Data Collection

For three periods this day we collected data from all the junior classes. We had 3 main areas to use and 9 different groups and activities. Out group did basketball shots out of five from the free throw line one person out of all the classes got 5/5 shots in. most people got 0- or 1 shots in. the year nines did better the the year tens because of them being new to school and following the rules. We did not much except for standing there and rebounding. In the last period madison came over and helped us sort out the kids and also give support to them. One thing we could of done better was give support and give more tips to help get the shots in.

For the first period we were in the new gym because it was raining. The second period we were out on the court which made it easier for them to get the shots in. Third period we were in the old gym because of the torrential downpour. Dean and Auryn showed leadership skills by helping move the classes around.

Coach Carter

Coach Carter is a great movie with some good lessons in it.
The movie teaches us to be respectful and to be determined in what we do.
But there are way more things in the movie, like the struggles of growing up in a bad town/place.
Coach Carter shows us that if you work hard and get good grades you could go to a good
college and get into a better life.
Coach Carter emphasises this when he says “If you can’t perform in the classroom you will not play.”
making a point the education is apart of sport too.

This movie has a lot of good morals that people should have, like teamwork and taking responsibility
for your actions.
Writing about Coach Carter made me realise that those same morals can be applied to any situation
e.g. school and in workplaces. Like when Coach Carter yelled at them for trash talking them saying
“Be a winner celebrate your success not their failure.”. This was a fun and helpful thing to for
English with a movie that was very relatable.

When Coach Carter talks about hard work and determination it makes me look at my
basketball gameplay and try to improve on it. It makes me look back on what work and training
I have done and wanting to do better. It makes me want to improve.
Improve on my jumpshot and dribble moves. improve on my maths and my english.
It makes me want to get better academically and physically with all of my skills, not just one thing.

Mandarin

At first when I started mandarin I didn't really wanna do it. For me the language sounded weird at first. But when we started I started to understand it more and realise that it doesn't sound that weird. when I learned that they had 5 tones that they use it got confusing but once you get the hang of it, its actually interesting to learn about. I made this comic strip of a mandarin conversation: (click the picture if too small)
I really enjoyed this module.
